The Ultimate Luxury Dual-Sport Adventure

Special Guests Steve Lamson & Destry Abbott

Sept 27-Oct. 1, 2021

Since 2016, former Dirt Rider magazine editors Ken Faught and Mark "Kato" Kariya have been working to build the world’s best high-end, ultimate, luxury dual-sport adventure, and it’s finally ready. Mammoth Mountain 2021 — The Legend’s Ride will be an ultra-exclusive motorcycle adventure in the High Sierras with AMA 125cc National Champion Steve Lamson and off-road legend Destry Abbott. Everything about this ride is special, from the world-class riders, the special activities and the support staff, all the way to the amazing home we are using as our base camp.

But this is not a ride that's going to kick your ass, although our team has done plenty of those. Mammoth Mountain 2021 will be an experience that will overwhelm the senses, tantalize the imagination and provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This is an exclusive ride for ten, yes 10 people only. This is a high-end event, and the $9,850 price tag should tell you something—that cost, by the way, does not include a bike. We want people to ride their own street legal dual-sport bikes since that's where most people are comfortable, although we can help arrange bikes if necessary. We do have several 2021 KTM 350 and 500 EXC-Fs and in our fleet. Mammoth Mountain 2021 will include some fun in a helicopter, incredible sightseeing, some riding tips from champion racers Steve Lamson and Destry Abbott, along with photos and video of your adventure. That’s right, the award-winning Mark Kariya and Ken Faught—names you've seen in magazines like Dirt Rider, Dirt Bike, Cycle News, Australasian Dirt Bike and Racer X for over 25 years—will be shooting photos of each rider to create lasting personal memories for each participant. It’s one of the many reasons this will be the number one on- and off-road motorcycle tour in the United States and one of the top 10 dirt bike tours in the world, first time out.

So, who will attend this event? We expect an eclectic group of doctors, lawyers, celebrities and serious fans of the sport. The price itself should be an indication that we expect quality, successful people who enjoy the finer things in life. Jennifer Emig—yes, that Emig—is the CEO of Speed & Sport Adventures, LLC and will oversee all of the details. These include items like bike and gear washing, entertainment and all meals.

Participants in Mammoth Mountain 2021—The Legends Ride will also be placed on special VIP priority list for future rides. That means they will have the first right of refusal for Speed & Sport Adventures' next event, and if someone cancels, they will have an opportunity to bring a friend before we open it up to the general public.

Each rider will have his (or her) own room inside this massive lake-front house which will serve as our base camp. It’s more like a mini resort with a game room, chef’s kitchen, etc. There is also an opportunity for dual occupancy rooms at a cost savings of $1,200 per person.

Our goal is to create an amazing experience for all, and we have worked to find the ideal balance to achieve that. Mark Kariya and Ken Faught are arguably the two most-traveled professional off-road motorcycle journalists in the world, and they, along with Jennifer Emig and Pat Foster, did much of the scouting before choosing Mammoth Mountain. They have done off-road motorcycle tours in Peru, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Senegal, and Chile. Separately, they have ridden in 40 of the United States plus Australia and several countries in Europe.

"Although we love international travel, we wanted to create something that avoided the complication of needing a passport to have fun," Faught explains."Our goal is to make it simple for people to have the absolute best of the best, and we found that in Mammoth Mountain."

DAY 1  | Sept 27

  • 4:30-6:30 P.M. — Arrive at the lodge/basecamp

  • 7:00 P.M. — Welcome reception with drinks & hors d’oeuvres

  • 7:30 P.M. — Group meeting

DAY 2  | Sept 28

This will be a full day of riding and exploring a lot of the lakes and cool sights. Lunch will be enjoyed at a restaurant with dinner and activities held back at the lodge. We expect to have a wide variety of activities that include cornhole, horseshoes, table tennis, volleyball and basketball in the pool. Then again, simple relaxation and bench racing is also not only invited but encouraged.

DAY 3 | Sept 29

We will leave the basecamp around 7:30 A.M. and ride about 40 miles to breakfast. After breakfast we'll ride another 40 miles to an airport for an amazing adventure. The group will take a helicopter tour and go heli fishing or heli mountain bike riding. Lunch will be served on top of the mountain, and it too will arrive by aircraft. We will then ride back around 75 miles to the base camp. There's also going to be another surprise, but we won’t tell anyone until it actually happens. There will also be dinner and activities at the cabin before a movie night.

DAY 4 | Sept 30

This ride will take the group all around town and the surrounding areas. It will be followed by BBQ dinner and "awards ceremony" at the resort. This should be an epic evening full of activities, bench racing and lots of laughs.
